EMS has been involved in this project since Financial Close in August 2019, providing Construction Management Employers Agent services to the SPV during construction and SPV management services to date in both Construction and operational phases.
The University of Leicester site includes a 17,500m2 multi-storey carpark, 34,836m² of student accommodation, split across seven multi-storey blocks, with a total of 1,164 bedrooms and associated kitchen/diner facilities provided within multi-storey blocks. In addition, there is a 7,975m² Teaching and Learning Building and 750m² of Student Social space together with the refurbishment of existing Grade II listed buildings.
The construction phase of the project was delivered on time and within budget. The programme delivery benefitted from the use of off-site manufactured pre-cast concrete frames and wall panels, facilitating speed of installation and ability to make the buildings watertight rapidly, thereby enabling internal trades to progress without delay.
