Canning Town Social Housing

The Canning Town Social Housing PFI comprises the refurbishment, maintenance, management and operation of 1308 low rise retained refurbished dwellings and 1 40-unit tower block. The project reached financial close in June 2005, with a concession period of 30 years.

The project is located in the London Borough of Newham, situated in East London.

The Building and maintenance contractor is Equipe, and the Housing Management Contractor is Pinnacle group. This project is one of 3 London social housing schemes managed by EMS.

 Ongoing workstreams include:

• Estate wide fire door replacement project;

• Community outreach including activities such as joint weekly walk arounds, day trips managed by Pinnacle and an ongoing project of implementing a Community Fridge;

• Lifecycle replacements.

EMS works closely with the local authority, Equipe and Pinnacle Group to deliver and improve social housing quality across the borough. The services provided and the consistent delivery of works continue to build trust with the local community.
