Greater Gabbard
EMS has been managing this regulated utility since 2016.
The OFTO connects a 503 MW wind farm, operated by SSE, off the Suffolk cost to the National Grid at Sizewell. The asset comprises two offshore platforms, four 133kV subsea cables and one onshore substation.
Operations overseen by EMS take place offshore, on the seabed and within the high voltage compounds. We work in close cooperation with parties including SSE as wind farm operator, the Marine Management Organisation, the local Fishermen, the Crown Estate, the onshore Landowners and the National Grid.
Commissioned in 2012, the OFTO is one of the older assets in the scheme. Along with debt finance from the bond market, regulatory and investor management, long term asset integrity and technical risk management are significant elements of the service that EMS delivers.
In 2019 we oversaw the transition between O&M contractors - the asset is now managed by EDS HV Ltd, part of the James Fisher Marine group.
