Essex Schools
EMS were appointed in late May to provide the finance and operational MSA Services for Essex Schools Ltd. The project consists of 3 schools in Essex which were completed in 2012.
Two of the schools are located on Canvey Island in Essex; these are both secondary schools catering for 11 to 16 year old students. Cornelius Vermuyden School comprises a collection of new and refurbished buildings with expansive playing fields, the total floor area of the school is 7,900m2 and the school can cater for 900 students. Castle View School located in the Canvey town centre is mainly a new build and with a total floor area of 10,350m2 and can cater for 1200 students.
The third school is a SEN school located on two closely located sites in Chelmsford - Columbus School and College. Columbus has the capacity to provide education, therapy and care support for 240 children with profound, severe learning difficulties. The school campus provides education to younger students from nursery age while the older students go to the college campus. The buildings have a total floor area of 8,500m2 and this is made up of a combination of new build, refurbished and retained estate. The needs of these SEN students means specialist facilities including, lifting harnesses, therapeutic rooms and pools are also provided on site.
